Saturday 22 September is World Car Free Day.
The purpose of the day is to encourage motorists to give up their cars for a day and try walking, public transport or cycling instead. Changing the way you make your journeys can make all the difference to your health, your pocket and the environment.
Did you know…
- In the UK, 40% of car trips are less than 2 miles
- Walking to your bus stop is a great way to introduce exercise into daily life
- One full double decker bus could remove 75 single occupant vehicles from the roads
- If we all switched from car to bus for just one journey a month, it would mean one billion fewer car journeys on our roads and would save 2 million tonnes of CO2 every year.
If it’s been a while since you travelled by bus or have never been on one of our buses before, why not give it a try this weekend.
