New Beginnings Club – Bus Buddy Scheme

The new beginnings club Bus Buddy Scheme is a new initiative set up to help people who are unsure of travelling on a bus themselves gain the confidence to do so.

Volunteer ‘Bus Buddies’ who are regular bus travellers have been trained by the club to help people who cannot travel themselves through accompanying and assisting them with their local bus journeys.

East Coast Buses are supporting this initiative and have been working with our drivers to ensure they are aware of the project and are equipped to assist the bus buddies.

Driver’s will ensure customers get to the correct destination, give them extra time to pay or show passes and ask if they need any assistance in order for them to gain confidence to use the bus on their own.

Sue Green, new beginnings club co-ordinator said:

East Coast Buses have been fantastic in their support of us – sharing their knowledge, time and resources. They have been very understanding of what we are trying to achieve and have helped us enormously. Huge thanks to Mark, Clare and all at East Coast Buses!
