We were delighted to have two of our drivers in the finals of the first Lothian Buses Driver of the Year Competition yesterday, Wednesday 12 July.
Colin Vanbeck and Jim McDonald joined 14 other bus drivers as the events finalists where they took part in various driving tests including reversing, a blind speed test and safety checks. They also had to answer a 25 question theory test.
As the sun shone, staff including non drivers all had the chance to drive some of Lothian’s newest buses.
Both drivers did exceptionally well with Colin winning best East Coast Buses driver and coming fifth overall in the competition.
Mark Heritage, East Coast Buses General Manager said:
It’s fantastic to have two drivers in the competition final and that Colin not only finished in the top 5 but will be representing the company at the UK Bus Driver of the Year competition in Blackpool later this year. Everyone here wishes him the best of luck.
